Fort William Estate
The
Area Surrounding Fort William and Lismore
Lismore nestles amongst mature woods and rich farmland
along the scenic Blackwater Valley.
It is also a heritage town and its visitor's centre
offers a fascinating insight into the history of this area.
The town also hosts the very impressive Lismore Castle, owned by
the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and has beautiful gardens which
open to the public from Easter.
There are also many lovely walks and drives around
the area.
The nearby south coast provides an abundance of sandy beaches and
popular sea angling opportunities.
For the golfer, there are numerous courses around the counties of
Waterford and Cork, including a 9-hole course at Lismore.
Other local activities include: horse riding, swimming
and hill walking.
Both cities of Waterford and Cork provide excellent
shopping areas and cinemas.
Lismore and it's surrounding towns offer a variety
of excellent restaurants taking advantage of a rich sea fishing
area.
Finally, at the end of your day, why not sample a pint of the famous
"black stuff" and enjoy "the crack" in one of Lismore's many traditional
Irish pubs.
